Nairobi: June 30th, 2014 – The FA Cup is in Kenya and Arsenal FC gave loyal Imperial Bank Arsenal Affinity Account holders a chance to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. The Cup was showcased during a breakfast held today on 30th June 2014 at the Capital Club courtesy of Imperial Bank – Arsenal FC’s official partner. Following Arsenal’s victory in the FA Cup Final, the Club is now the proud owner of the trophy for one year. From early July, the trophy shall be a key feature of the Club’s stadium tour route as well as visits around the world. The trophy is extremely popular and is the oldest Cup in history. This will also be the first time the FA Cup has been brought to Kenya.
Speaking at the event, Arsenal FC’s Senior Partner Services Executive, Mr. Luke Wilson said. “This is a great chance for the fans in Kenya to get their photographs taken with the trophy. We were particularly eager to showcase it first in Kenya and share our excitement of our win with Arsenal fans here. We are happy that our partnership with Imperial Bank has helped us reach our fans in the country and expose them to the Cup.”
Imperial Bank signed a partnership agreement with Arsenal FC early last year enabling the Club to get closer to its millions of fans on the continent. By offering the Arsenal Affinity Debit Card, the Bank has been able been able to ride on the popularity of the Club to offer a dynamic banking product that rewards customers.
Also speaking during the event, Imperial Bank’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Ms. Muthoni Wachira said, “As a company, we are not only proud to be associated with the most beloved Club in the world but also delighted to offer our customers once in a lifetime opportunities such as this.” she said. “Last year, upon signing the partnership agreement, we promised Arsenal fans in Kenya that we would bring the Gunners home and we are happy that we have been able to achieve this.” In the past one year, Imperial Bank has awarded customers with fully paid trips to watch Arsenal play live at the Emirates Stadium. The bank has also trained talented youth courtesy of Arsenal Soccer School coaches. The last coaching clinic was held early this year and saw 30 talented youth get training skills from the Arsenal FC coaches. Future plans will see the clinics taking place in Uganda as well.
